Tried & tested recommendations from a diehard Lisbon lover.
Ah, Lisbon. With 4.5 million visitors per year, it’s one of the world’s leading tourist destinations—and a city that, for the past winter, I’ve been lucky to call home. Given that there are too many attractions worth seeing in this historic seaside capital, it was tough to pick favorites. But if you ever get a chance to explore, here are a few places you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Fancy restaurants:
- SUD Lisboa—great for both drinks and dinner
- JNcQUOI Avenida—upscale restaurant x concept store
- JNcQUOI Asia—new Portuguese x Asian fusion place
Mid-price restaurants:
- Lisboa à Noite—atmospheric hole-in-the-wall place with great soup
- Time Out Market Lisboa—series of open-air restaurants in a cool setting
- Pinóquio—great seafood dishes with generous portions
- Espada—succulent sea food small plates
Simple but great eateries:
- Beher—delicious Iberian ham sandwiches and tapas
- Panda Cantina—tiny but cute ramen place offering one or two dishes
